Flights normally take place in the valleys between Queenstown and Arrowtown with magnificent views of the unique terrain at dawn when the air is cool and calm. You can experience sunrise over the lakes and mountains from the serenity of a hot air balloon. Share an incredible morning with the whole family. You'll float gently with the breeze, enjoying amazing panoramic views. After about a one hour flight, indulge in a champagne - style breakfast served at the landing site.
They fly in a valley near beautiful Lake Wakatipu and the Shotover River surrounded by mountains up to 2400 metres high, (8,000ft). You will see Lake Wakatipu, Lake Hayes, the Shotover and Kawarau rivers. The Balloon flights get a bird's eye view of some of the filming locations used in "Lord Of The Rings". Also can be seen, for example, The Ford Of Bruinen; Dimrill Dale; The Gates of Argonath; The Pillars Of The Kings. Also visible is Mount Earnslaw, one of the great mountains seen in Isengard.
You also have views of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski areas, Mount Aspiring in the Southern Alps and Mount Tutoko in Fiordland National Park.
