Queenstown is a 'Nature inspired Theme Park', such are the seemingly endless array of tramping and walking trails. The famous Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's Great Walks! This full day walk in the ancient beech forest of the Mount Aspiring National Park will be a day to remember for life. The Routeburn Track passes through two national parks, Fiordland and Mount Aspiring.

The guides will collect you from Queenstown - the day starts with a scenic drive to the northern end of Lake Wakatipu and into the Routeburn Valley to the Routeburn Shelter, located in the beautiful Mt. Aspiring National Park. Access to the track is via a swing bridge, where you are immediately immersed into stunning native beech forest. The wide variety of flora and fauna enroute is sure to impress!
As you travel along, the guides will share information about the historical significance of the Routeburn Track and how it was used by early Maori and European pioneers.

There are plenty of waterfalls to enjoy and photograph as well as lots of places to rest along the river. The trail is moderately paced, rising gradually towards stunning snow-capped peaks. Enjoy a hot drink with lunch at Routeburn Flats Hut, a mouth-watering lunch consisting of fruit, sandwiches, energy snacks and drink in this beautiful alpine area is provided as part of the package.

For those who want a little more adventure, the 300m (980ft) climb, over 3km (1.9 miles) to the Routeburn Falls promises to be the highlight of your day. The walk up to the waterfall is somewhat more challenging than the first section of the track, but most walkers make the effort and agree the view makes it all worth while. You then return along the same track. This is a summer activity and runs in the months of October till April.

The high snow capped mountains provide a magnificent backdrop for the walk up this beautiful river valley.
